The case in 30 seconds
Prop 144 is a common-sense election integrity amendment. Arizona elections should be decided only by eligible citizen voters. Every voter should show valid government-issued ID, whether voting in person or by mail. Foreign nationals should not influence Arizona elections. And every voter should have the option of Election Day tabulation for faster, more transparent results. This is not about overturning elections or attacking voters, it is about one clear standard for every ballot.

Same rules for every ballot
Today, in-person voters show ID while mail ballots are checked by a subjective signature match. Prop 144 sets one uniform, objective standard: government-issued ID for every ballot, however you choose to vote, provided free of charge, so cost is never a barrier.

Mail voting stays | and gets stronger
Most Arizonans vote by mail, and Prop 144 does not end it. Your early ballot still arrives at home. The measure strengthens the method most Arizonans actually use by verifying identity on every ballot, and leaves the practical details of how mail ID works to legislation and funding.

Faster, more transparent counting
Counting ballots at the voting location instead of trucking them to a central facility means a shorter chain of custody, counting in front of local observers, and results reported on election night rather than a week later.

One citizen, one vote | in the Constitution
Arizona law already limits voting to U.S. citizens, but statutes can be rewritten by a future legislature or reinterpreted by a court. Prop 144 puts the rule where it lasts: elections decided solely by the votes of eligible citizen voters.

No foreign money in Arizona elections
Foreign nationals are already barred from giving to candidates, but can still fund other political committees, including ballot measure campaigns. Prop 144 closes that loophole. Arizona elections should be decided by Arizonans.
Access comes with it
Prop 144 requires the Legislature to appropriate the money needed to implement it, and compliant government-issued ID must be available free of charge. Making ID easy to obtain, for rural voters, seniors, veterans, and tribal communities, is part of doing this right. The measure also leaves room for the Legislature to keep improving early and mail voting procedures, and it does not change protections for overseas military voters.
Even if your candidate loses, you should be able to trust that the rules were clear, the voter was eligible, the identity was verified, and the ballot was counted promptly. Election confidence is not a partisan luxury.
